Synthesis Essay:A Good Education

This assignment requires you to integrate a variety of sources from our class readings into a coherent, well-written essay. Many of the authors we have read in this chapter try to define exactly what makes a good education. Write an essay in which you define a good education. Explain your view with specific references to the readings in this chapter, as well as with examples from your own experience. Refer to the sources to support your position; avoid mere paraphrase or summary. Your argument should be central; the sources should support this argument.

What must be included in the essay:

1. Title your essay.

2. An introduction, supporting body paragraphs, and a conclusion

3. A clear, easily identifiable thesis, or controlling idea about what makes a good education

4. Use a minimum of 6 quotes from 3 different articles to either substantiate, refute, or qualify a portion of your argument.

5. You will hand in all prewriting that we do in and out of class

6. You will hand in a rough draft with peer review

7. Your essay should be at least 750 words long (approximately three pages, double spaced) in APA format including title page, abstract, and reference list.
