ASSIGNMENT
FOR COMPOSITION STUDENTS (106B)
East Asia, China, Korea, Japan. These names mean different things to different people, and since you have enrolled in this course one or more of them must be important or interesting to you. Please choose one of these names and write a 3-4 page (typed, double-spaced) paper about it: its historical or contemporary significance or even what it means you personally. It might relate to a book that you have read, a movie that you have seen, a friend that you had, a video game that you played, your homeland (or that of your family), or something entirely different. So long as you relate your essay to one of these countries (or East Asia) the topics are wide open and the choice is yours.
This is a writing assignment. Your paper will be evaluated for its grammar, spelling, and structure, as well as for its coherence and organization. Humor is allowed. Have fun with it.
