4. No plagiarism is allowed. Plagiarism, as the term is defined in the section on
Plagiarism in the University Academic Integrity Policy is : “…the use of another’s words
without attribution or without enclosing the words in quotation marks. Plagiarism may
also be defined as the act of taking the ideas or expression of ideas of another person and
representing them as one’s own – even if the original paper has been paraphrased or
otherwise modified. A close or extended paraphrase may also be considered plagiarism
even if the source is named.” http://www.clarion.edu/about-clarion/policies/cupolicies/academic-integrity.pdf

WRITING ASSIGNMENTS THAT TAKE MATERIAL FROM OTHER
SOURCES WITHOUT PROPER CITATION WILL RECEIVE 0 POINTS.
5. The assignment must be your own work. Any student that has his/her assignment written
by someone else will receive 0 points.
GRADING: the following guidelines will be used for grading:
There are several characteristics required in an A answer:
1. Most importantly, you must provide complete answers to the questions. This requires
you to fully explain the view or your position concerning it. Remember that this will take
more than one sentence even for the shortest parts of the assignment.
2. The assignment must demonstrate your understanding of the topic and reflect that, for
any question expressing your own views, you have carefully considered your opinion.
3. You must provide support for the claims that you make. This support would include such
things as quotations from the text, a personal experience that supports your point, or a
thorough explanation of the point you have made with your reasons for believing it.
Better quality of evidence (good support) will receive a higher grade.
4. Each part of your answer should relate to the question – don’t include any material that is
off topic.
5. Your answers to the questions must be well organized and clear.
6. The assignment should have no, or very few, grammatical or typographical errors.
