Topic: ZombiesOrder Description
I need to write an essay based on “the change of zombies in popular culture”. As you know, the origin of zombie stories come from Haiti. But since the Romero movies in 1960’s, they started evolving. I have some notes for this essay but I don’t know how to connect them to one another, so I would like you to help me out with that. Before these notes, I need you to only use “common knowledge, zombie movies and a reading I’ll provide you for this essay”- NO outside research. It has to be “full 6 pages” and the 7th page should be work cite.
Notes:
I need my thesis to be something like “zombies have changed in popular culture due to the industrialization, urbanization, technological evolution and globalization.”
I would like you to talk briefly about these movements but mainly talk about how they affected the change in zombies.
I have a few random notes regarding zombies, and I would like you to fit them the best place you can in the paragraphs and also talk about them in detail and give them reasons.
1) Traditional Zombies (Haitian):
-Displayed in Haitian mythology
-Based on “religion”
-Deceased is revived as a zombie
-Becoming a zombie under a voodoo spell.
-Controlled by a voodoo master called Bokor.
-Only motivation is sorcerers/Bokors happiness
-Partially unconscious
-People become zombies by voodoo unlike a bite of another zombie or virus.
-Controlled humans?
– Don’t seek flesh?
-Way slower than modern zombies. (Present life got faster than ever?)
-Zombies are considered to be half-alive? (Not certain about this)
First Zombie Movie called “White Zombie” 1932. I need you to refer to this one because it is a movie about Haitian mythology zombies. You may also mention the title of this movie. Since Haitian zombies are slaves and those times usually black people were slaves, I believe that “white” is a reference to this unusualness. So, it embodies a racist and maybe even a sexist aspect since the zombie of the movie is female.
Please take “White Zombie” as an example of Haitian Zombie movie. (1932)
You can take “World War Z” as an example of contemporary Zombie movie.

Please take George Romero’s movies as a bridge between those eras. (1960’s-70’s)
Was Romero’s zombies were dead entirely? Because In Dawn of the Dead, Bub remembers how to use a toothbrush and a razor. Is there still something human in him?
Industrialisation: As factories opened, the need of labour climbed; so the number of employee increased. The origin of Zombie movies, there were a few zombies. However in contemporary zombie movies we witness an enormous increase of zombies due to industrialisation and urbanization. Besides that, Zombies become more violent, faster, aggressive, animalistic in pop culture or especially in “World War Z”.
Zombies went from consciousness to unconsciousness show that in pop culture communication between people decreased as the technology inclined and it is a reflection in zombie movies.
The presence of factories and the rise of large towns accelerated the moment of poeple in their lives. Therefore zombies got quickened in modern epoch.
Modern Zombies:
-Wander around as packs, they cooperate until the nourishment process. They can push one another away to be able to eat more. So their selfishness appear and projects the dark side of human-being.
I believe that the fact that the zombies cooperate to a certain extent and once the reward is won, they end up being cynical, reckless even to their own kind.
-Lack of religion unlike Haitian Zombies.
What’s the possible reasons that religion is forgotten in modern era? Because America, thereby hollywood, is not very religious?
-Went primitive, craving human-flesh, become more monster-like.
-More scary
-American culture has become more violent, disconnected, self satisfied, reckless, and sought instant gratification like zombies. Lack of patience.
